William J. Guappone, O.D.
Dear Loyal Hyde Park Optometrists Patient,
As many of you know, we welcomed Dr. Jesse Hamilton to our practice in January 2023. With the addition of his expert care, I have been able to gradually scale back my schedule and spend more time with my growing family (3 grandchildren now). As I approach 42 years practicing Optometry, it is with both happiness and some bittersweet sentiment that I announce my retirement effective January 1, 2024.
When I decided to reduce my schedule this past year, I had no definitive date for retirement in mind. Three factors that I did not know at the time have made it clear that January 2024 is the right time. First was the arrival of grandchild number 3 in October. She is the first out-of-town grandchild, so we will be spending much more time on the road. Secondly, we recently helped move an older relative back to Cincinnati for whom I will be the primary caregiver. Lastly, Dr. Hamilton’s significant years of prior experience have helped many patients seamlessly transition to his expert care already.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all of the caring staff members that have been invaluable in helping me over the years provide the level of care that was so important to me. I especially want to extend my gratitude to Lin Haas, Jessica Davidson, and Linda Sunday. Lin was my very caring office manager and chief optician from 2005 to March 2020. After Lin retired, Jessica and Linda assumed these roles with the highest level of professionalism and expertise, especially navigating us through the challenging Covid years. I am also very grateful, after years of carefully vetting many alternatives, to have found an outstanding successor in Dr. Hamilton.
In closing, I want all of my patients to know what a privilege it was for me to be part of your lives as your family eye doctor for so many years. I will miss the opportunity to impact your quality of life with the gift of good eye health and clear vision. It was a joy for me to maintain consistent contact with so many of you, sharing conversations about our families and interests we had in common. I always looked forward to annual “reunions” with friends who I was honored to see year after year. I welcome keeping in touch through my personal email, wguappone@cinci.rr.com, at any time that I can be of assistance or to pass on updates of family news.
Thank you all for making my career in Optometry a blessing that provided such great satisfaction and enjoyment. As I have done every morning for years, I will continue to keep you in my prayers. I wish all of you great health and happiness in the future.
Best Wishes Always,
William J. Guappone, O.D.
